Met Maj.Sasi, turns out he is from Waynad, Kerala. Back for dinner at the hotel at 2100 hrs. Went to Night Visions - the previous night’s Bar. Cdr Dam in two this time. Also to the Casino. Bala Sir explained a couple of games.I lost at the slot machine.

Dana Tashi, Sardar and a few of the Sherpas came in. They were paid there and a bonus of Us $ 1000 by Cdr Dam. Dawa and Thamptin to be called for flag-in.

The drive was beautiful – through a mountain range, river flowing and the road alongside. Reached airport by 0830 hrs. Flight delayed by more than an hour. Air China. 1 hr 10 mins. Flew beside Everest ! What a splendid sight. Reached KAT by 1030 hrs.

Went shopping after a hurried visit. Bought me a cap and one for Roney. Had an invitation from CTMA for dinner at Summit Camp restaurant. This was official.

It was also the Admin HQ of the Dalai lamas. Bought items for Sinha. Lunch at the hotel. At 1500hrs, we left for the carpet factory.

Left for the Summer palace by 1600 hrs. Close by. A very green compound. Saw a Radio and a Piano gifted by Nehru. Whatever others say, the Dalai Lamas lived in luxury.

Had lunch enroute at a very beautiful place - valley, sheep, mountains, a small stream ! The road was excellent once we hit the highway. Entered Lhasa around 1700 hrs.
