30th March 2004 | Acclimatisation and Thukpa

Posted on March 30, 2004

Acclimatisation before the Climb Confusions galore regarding our itinerary. Called up Kathmandu. Issue sorted out by 1130 hrs. Called up home. Got to know that Chief Narayana ( Everest Cell) had also called up as a matter of routine. Everyone except Anand called up their homes.

Opened up feet to the Sun. Got to know that the petrol pump here is a matter of three fuel hoses in the hotel compound. Read  a little Kureishi. Guys played pool till lunch. Siesta. Coffee. Acclimatisation walk, climbed a small hill.Couple of hours. Back by 1930hrs.

Had a good time distributing the pens, pencils etc that RPO Kanna had brought for the local kids. They kept asking for more and were climbing on us. Went on for an hour. Had finger chips, discussion on a bit of politics, population and medical stuff. Dinner was Thukpa – they bought us enormous quantity. Been told that we have to leave for Base camp tomorrow by 0900 hrs.

Preparing the Thukpa.
